WHAT THE FUCK: Congruency in a World on Fire

I haven’t been writing lately. There are many reasons for that, but I do think one worth sharing is this.

Writing, in so many ways, is my whimsy. It helps me transmute my rage and enhance my joy.

Lately, I have been stuck in rage.

When the world somehow seems to catch even more on fire, it can be easy to get stuck in “what’s the point?” and “I can’t do anything about it anyway.” Trust me, I think those thoughts too. I feel completely deflated and utterly outraged by the world our society has created.

That rage has been ever-present for years. And lately, I have been drowning in it. Yes, I still find it absolutely nonnegotiable to participate with whimsy, allow more than one thing to be true, and do my best to live in the grey, etc.

AND… WHAT THE FUCK.

I’m sure, as you read this, you can think of not only one but MANY atrocities happening in our world today, all of which stem from systematic issues steaming from generations and generations of hate. So, I will not pinpoint one today.

I will, however, pinpoint the thing we can do about it.

Just as we do with anything, take small steps in your circle of control. Align your actions with your thoughts and feelings. Consider yourself, others, and context.

We know these things aren’t easy, but sometimes it is that simple. Acting congruently in a world on fire has ripple effects beyond our awareness. The more each of us shows up and acts congruently, the more likely we are to create a somewhat congruent community.

I am not delusional in thinking that my small actions will immediately change the world, but I am firm in my belief that what I do matters. What you do matters, and so on and so forth. So, let’s make our actions count.

All large-scale change starts on the micro.

What is one small step you can take today to make the world a better place for not only your Self, but others and the world herself?

When I feel overwhelmed, after I give myself some time to throw a tantrum about how shitty things are and grieve the life I wish for all humans, I go back to basics.

I take small, reasonable steps inside my circle of control.

I align my thoughts, my feelings, and my actions with my core beliefs and values. I do what I can do. Though small, mighty, and powerful.
